Recently, in response to an invitation from the Macau Women’s General Association, Ms. Anabela, Acting Managing Director of Menzies Macau, Ms. Shirley Ung, Head of Planning, and Mr. Steven Chan, Manager of Human Resources, participated in the community exhibition launch of the ‘WeCare: Home with a Place’ series.

Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right in our society but also a crucial cornerstone for creating a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. Menzies Macau has consistently worked towards breaking the so-called ‘glass ceiling’ and actively establishing an equitable workplace environment. Additionally, the company demonstrates unwavering enthusiasm in promoting gender equality within society.

As representatives of Menzies Macau, Ms. Anabela and Ms. Shirley Ung uphold the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles. They actively engage in this event, striving to create a more equal workplace environment for women and provide broader growth opportunities. Similarly, Mr. Steven Chan contributes to coordinating efforts between Menzies Macau and various stakeholders, spreading the concept of gender equality even further. Their shared goal is to help women overcome obstacles in their professional development and promote rapid advancement in their careers.

Global data reveals that approximately 76.2% of unpaid family caregiving work is undertaken by women. Therefore, the goal of the ‘WeCare: Home with a Place’ initiative is to raise awareness of the value of this unpaid care and highlight the burdens faced by women in domestic labor.

Menzies Macau calls upon all of us to collaboratively create a family-friendly workplace and contribute to sustainable social development. We believe that true gender equality can only be achieved when everyone actively participates, leading us toward a brighter future.
